Botox - what is it

Botox is an injectable substance that is a medical grade form of the botulinum toxin A, also called botox botulism. It is a medical protein that is injected into the muscles of the face to minimize the appearance of furrows and lines.

Although the words botox and botox botulism sound frightening there is really nothing to worry about. The fact is that nobody has been harmed by botox or even had an allergic reaction to it. A lethal injection would consist of 2,500 - 3,000 units! Cerebal palsy sufferers are given doses of botox as high as 1,000 units routinely to help them with the associated muscle spasms. As the average dose for cosmetic reasons is 75 units, it is extremely safe.

When botox is used for cosmetic purposes the toxin is purified, diluted and then injected into the facial muscles. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses that control the movement of muscles by restricting the patients ability to contract them. A smoothing effect is seen almost immediately and it continues to improve over the next few days. The results last from three to six months after which most patients gradually return to their former state.

The immobilising properties that make botox sound bad, are the ones that make it incredible!

The main questions people ask is "will botox make my face look frozen?", "how will I look?" and "will others detect my little secret?". One of the biggest misconceptions is that botox will eliminate all facial expressions. If it is done properly using an artistic eye, the proper technique and conservatively, the patient should look like a more rejuvenated and refreshed version of themselves.

Botox Uses

- Crow's feet

- Frown lines

- Brow lines

- Low back pain

- Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)

- Migraine headaches

- Muscle spasticity from cerebral palsy, stroke, or - multiple sclerosis

- Neck spasms

- Vocal cord spasm

Overall botox treatments are very safe and effective.

Laser hair removal - is it right for you

Laser hair removal is heavily advertised but little is known about this technology. However, that will change after you spend 58 seconds to read every word of this article and become well-informed on permanent hair removal. After analyzing the facts you will be able to make a decision on whether or not laser hair removal is right for you.

How It Works

The laser is used to quickly and gently remove unwanted hairs.

Laser hair removal uses a light wavelength that targets dark colored materials on your skin. This is usually the pigment of the hair. A hand held device is then used to target these areas and remove hair from them. This procedure works best for those with fair colored skin and dark colored hair. With darker skin, it is harder to target these areas. People with darker skin can be treated, but results are slower and more sessions are required. Also, you'll want to find a doctor with greater expertise if you do have darker skin.

Laser Hair Removal must be individualized for each patient.

Different types of hair respond differently to the laser procedure. Coarse dark hair seems to respond the best to laser treatment. Light hair is much more difficult to treat. Blonde or red hair becomes extremely complicated. With lighter hair, results are variable and you must have multiple treatment sessions.

Actually, almost everyone requires multiple treatment sessions for optimal results. This is because hair grows in cycles. Not all of the hairs are in the growth phase at any given time. Additional sessions insure that you catch all of the hairs when they are in the growth phase.

Cost of Laser Hair Removal

The costs of laser hair removal can vary depending on your location. However, they range from $300.00 to $500.00 per session. Because this is a form of medical care, it is always best to seek the clinic with the highest quality rather than the lowest price. Laser hair removal requires many years of training, individual attention, experience, and a trained, caring, and professional staff.

Side Effects of Laser Hair Removal

Most patients do experience some very minor side effects after each session. This is usually in the form of a mild sunburn-type sensation that goes away in 2-3 hours. Moisturizers and cool compresses can help to relieve any discomfort during this time. Any small blister areas that may appear should be treated with a topical antibiotic until resolved. Because you have been exposed to this particular form of light ray, sun block should be used for up to 6 weeks after treatment if you expect to be exposed to the sun. Any further instructions should be given by your doctor.

If you tired of waxing or shaving, laser hair removal may be the perfect solution for you. Now that you know more about it, you should be able to make the right choice for you.

Laser skin enhancements

Ah, the joys of modern technology. Plastic surgery benefits from our advances in technology just like any other industry or medical field. This brings us to the subject of laser skin enhancements.

Laser Skin Enhancements

If you think you might be in need of a procedure to rejuvenate your face and restore your youthful appearance, you might be considering facial plastic surgery. However, for some individuals, surgical intervention is not the proper choice due to medical conditions or the particulars of your situation. In such cases, laser skin enhancements offers corrective solutions not previously available.

A laser skin enhancement is performed by plastic surgeons using advanced laser technology. The laser is strong enough to burn the first layer of dead tissue and a few living cells on the surface of the skin, but does not affect the other layers of skin tissue. The laser also reaches down to the underlying collagen. Instead of removing the collagen, the heat results in a reduction of the collagen. This reduction results in the tightening up of the collagen and skin giving the patient a less wrinkled look. In practical terms, laser skin enhancements give you a bit of a lift and peel at the same time.

A laser enhancement is not the best procedure for all facial concerns. It does not work well on areas such as deep creases in the neck and cheek, creases around the lips and the upper eyelids. For smaller, fine lines and light wrinkles, however, it can be a less invasive choice than surgery. There are many advantages to choosing the laser procedure. There is less recovery time, general anesthesia is generally not necessary, and there is very little blood loss. There are also normally no scars following the procedure.

There are some potential side effects to having laser enhancements as there are with any cosmetic surgery. The recovery takes about ten days during which you can have very sensitive skin with some weeping. During this period, you will see a progression of skin color from red to pink to normal. There can also be a permanent lightening of the area treated, which can be a problem for some dark skin individuals. It is also not recommended for people looking to remove large quantities of skin or who have severe facial damage due to sun or age. If you are such a patient, laser enhancements can help but will not be a total solution.

Laser skin enhancements are a popular alternative to traditional facial surgeries. Make sure to speak with your doctor to find out your options and whether this surgery is appropriate for you.

Skin care - what are lasers

:
Lasers are heard in every context of skin care now. Whenever you think of any skin procedure, you think of laser, when you think of hair removal, again laser. What are lasers? How are they so effective? Let us find out.

Lasers - what is that?

The full name of lasers is - Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. In lasers, the light has a single wavelength and does not get scattered. You can focus this very high energy light on any object. If you put on a torch at night, you will find the light scattering in a circle. In laser that does not happen. Light travels in a straight line without any scattering and carries very high energy.

Skin Care - How lasers are used?

Lasers are used for their high energy and focusing ability. While performing laser resurfacing of face, the surgeon can burn layer by layer of the skin with precise control. As the laser burns away the skin, there is no bleeding and control of contouring is very precise. Doctors can remove lot many surface damages with lasers.

Skin damage and lasers-

Lasers are of different types and before undergoing any treatment you must find out more about the laser that will be used on you, its side effects if any and the experience and ability of the surgeon who will be doing the treatment. in laser treatment a surgeon’s ability is very important to get results.

The perfect lipstick color for you

Have you ever sat in front of your dresser mirror applying your makeup and redoing your lipstick because you hated the lipstick color that you got?

Many women find choosing the lipstick color that is just right for their lips and skin tone a little confusing. It does not help that there are probably thousands of shades of lipstick colors out there, which makes the process of choosing the perfect lipstick color for your lips a little more complicated than it should be. However, if you knew how to look, you would be surprised at how easy finding this perfect lipstick color is.

The Trick to Finding the Perfect Lipstick Color

The trick to finding the perfect lipstick color for your lips is simply this: get a lipstick color that is a shade or two darker than the natural color of your lips. It is as simple as that.

Now, of course you would want to figure out just what kind of lipstick color would complement the tone of your skin. As a rule of thumb, if you have fair skin, you should go with soft pinks and corals to match the pinkish tone of your skin. Apricot would be a nice lipstick color too if you are fair-skinned.

If your skin has olive tones, the lipstick color that would suit you would be something that has tones of rose or mauve. If you have dark skin, you should pick lipstick colors with deep reds, deep browns or chocolate.

The Right Way of Buying a Lipstick

Now that you know what lipstick color you should go for, how do you determine if the lipstick you are thinking of buying is the perfect color? The answer to that is that you should try the lipstick on.

However, never ever apply the sample lipstick directly to your lips. That is very yucky. You would never know how long that lipstick has been exposed to dust and dirt and putting it directly to your lips may cause you to take in germs into your system. Instead of putting the lipstick directly to your lips, just swipe it against your finger or your palm.

There are some stores where it would not be possible for you to take a swipe of the sample lipstick on your skin because the sample lipstick is not available. In that case, what you need to do is to just hold the product against your face and take a look at yourself at the mirror. That will help you determine if the lipstick color is just right for the tone of your skin.

Do Not Stick to Just Lipstick

When you shop for makeup, do not limit yourself to just the lipstick. Get yourself a few lip liners as well. Lip liners are very helpful because they trace the natural line of your lips and prevent the lipstick from bleeding away from your lips. Take care to buy lip liners that are a shade lighter than the lipstick colors you will blend them with. You can also go for a nude lip liner if you think figuring out what color of lip liner would match your lipstick color is just too much work for you.

Another tool that could come handy when you are applying makeup is a lipstick brush. A lipstick brush is good if you are the type who wants to put on just a thin layer of lipstick instead of slathering it across your lips. A lipstick brush is also more hygienic than dabbing your fingers on the lipstick and then rubbing it on your lips. In using a lipstick brush, you minimize the need for kissing tissue to get rid of excess lipstick on your lips, as well as to prevent it from getting to your teeth.

Got the Wrong Lipstick Color?

Sometimes, even though you are sure that the color of the lipstick that you got from the store is the right one for your skin tone, there are times that when you actually get to use it, you would find that it is not really the right shade for you, or you simply do not like the way it looks against your skin. Do not despair, though. You can still make use of that lipstick. You do not have to waste money by throwing it away.

What you do in this situation is to get your lipstick brush and blend this unwanted lipstick color with your other lipsticks. In this way, you would be able to create a shade of color that would be more to your liking. You get a new shade of lipstick without buying a new one or throwing one away.

Artistry

Skin care is perhaps the most important ingredient in getting you that glowing and youthful look. Some of the factors that affect the skin include pollution levels, the amount of water that you drink and the exercise that you get, the stress levels that you are subjected to, the amount of time that you spend outdoors, the type of care that you take and of course, your age itself. While we cannot do anything about the last one, there’s a lot that we can do about almost every other factor.

That’s precisely what the world seems to be doing. Skin care and cosmetic procedures are big business, particularly in the US. Much of the treatment uses invasive technologies that involve harsh chemicals, needles or knives. Apart from being painful, they are also expensive. Well, you have to pay a price for regaining beauty, don’t you?

Not really. Artistry’s products offer effective treatment with clinically proven results through non-invasive methods at a much lower cost than other popular methods. Artistry believes in science and innovation to bring out products and treatments that are both effective and easy.

Lines and wrinkles are the signs that usher in aging. Anybody would want to arrest this process and eliminate the telltale lines and wrinkles, and even reverse the process. If you are the well-disciplined type, you probably have fewer problems with your skin, and proper skin care can do wonders for you. If you are the type of person that has all the wrong habits, skin care becomes something of a necessity for you.

Skin care starts with keeping the skin clean and providing it with the necessary nourishment. Clean your skin to wash away dirt and oil. Condition it to thoroughly clean the skin by removing dirt completely. Apply nourishment.

If you are above thirty and have some of the disadvantages listed above, you may need that extra care. Age-defying skin care is for you. There is a range of products out there to suit your every need.
