How to properly catch and release your fish a fishing fool article

Study after study has shown that the majority of fish species can survive being caught and released if they are released properly. With most states now having laws requiring you to catch and release during some time of the year there is a strong need to learn to release your catch in a way that will insure its greatest chance of survival.

Here are some tips to help improve your fish’s chance of survival once released back into the water.

Land your fish quickly if possible

The longer you fight the fish, the more energy the fish will use and will lesson his chance of survival. Also a weak and stressed fish is more vulnerable to predators and is also less able to fight off infection.

There is one exception to this and that is when you are fishing in very deep water. A fish caught in deep water needs time to adjust to the pressure changes as he is being reeled up to the boat or his air bladder will expand and he will not be able to swim back down to the deeper water. If the bladder does expand, puncture a small hole with a 12-gauge hypodermic needle if possible to release the air out of the bladder. If a needle is not available use the tip of a clean ice pick. Some light massaging might be helpful to get the air out of the bladder. Just remember to keep the hole as small as possible, the air will go out quickly and the hole will heal in a short time.

Hooks

If you are using treble hooks, try removing some of the hooks so the damage to the fish is less. You can cut off one or two of the hooks or some anglers take the treble off and replace it with a single hook. Also try using circle hooks if you are using live bait. Just remember to not “set the hook” as much as you would with other hooks. When you get a bite just lift the rod tip to tighten the line up and start reeling, the hook will set itself in the corner of the fish’s mouth…usually.

Set your hook quickly

This reduces the chances of the fish swallowing the bait and then needing the fisherman to perform “minor surgery” to get the hook out. If you do get a fish that is “gut hooked” try to use a hook removal device like needle nose pliers or hemostats to help with the job. If it appears that you will have to do more harm that good to get the hook out just cut the line off as close to the hook as you can and hope for the best. In most instances the hook will work itself out and even if it doesn’t the fish will have a better chance of living with the hook than if damage was done to his internal organs during the hook removal process.

Try to reduce the handling of the fish

Leave the fish in the water as much as possible during the release phase. Use a hook removal tool if possible to reduce handling and don’t let the fish thrash around and injure it self or someone else. If you must handle the fish try to use a wet towel or glove and return the fish to the water as soon as possible.

After the fish is unhooked you don’t want to release him till he is strong enough to swim own his own. Hold the fish gently by its tail under water facing into the current. Move the fish gently back in forth till he can swim away on his own.

Please practice catch and release whenever possible and remember the large fish don’t taste any better than an average medium one. Take a picture and let the hog’s go back to catch again later.

Chinese poker big 2 choh dai di

There is a variant of poker from the Far East popularly known as Big 2, or Dai Di in Cantonese. You will find this Chinese poker played in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia and many other places as well.

Whilst Texas Hold’em No Limit poker is the ever dominant variant of poker in today’s poker world, Chor Dai Di has in fact been around for as long as well. This writer can testify that when the game was introduced by him to an English friend, he was hooked on it for the rest of the night!

Chinese Poker and Texas Hold’em

This Chinese poker is similar to Texas Hold’em No Limit poker with respect to hand rankings. The Royal Flush is the largest hand, followed by a straight flush and then a full house, and so on.

However, a major difference is that 2-s actually rank higher than aces – hence the name, Dai Di, or its English translation, Big 2!

Furthermore, the suit of a card holds a rank for poker – spades are the highest suit, followed by hearts, clubs, and finally diamonds.

Object of the Game

The object of the game is simple – to be the first to get rid of all your cards. The game can be played in a friendly manner to see who finishes their cards first, but involving money obviously makes it more interesting.

If players are playing for money, a point system will be used to determine how much each player pays the other at the end of the night – more on this later.

Dealing and Playing

Big 2 is usually played with four players, the entire deck being dealt out for 13 cards per player. If there are only two or three players, the extra set(s) of 13 are simply dealt out but left unplayed.

Any player can be the dealer and there is commonly no dedicated dealer required, but once the game has started, the winner from the previous round usually deals.

At the beginning of each game, the player with 3 of diamonds (or the winner from the previous round) starts by either playing a single card or a combination (pairs, 2 pairs, triples, or any 5-card poker combinations). Play proceeds to the next player who must then play a higher card or the same (pairs, trips or 5-card) combination than the one before. For example, after 3 of diamonds any card from 3♣, 3♥, 3♠, 4 of diamonds, 4♣, 4♥, 4♠ until 2♠ can be played.

Players may also pass if they wish.

(Note: If a players discards a straight, subsequent players may play a straight, a flush or full house or any other 5-card poker combination in reply. Also, if a flush is played, the suit, and not the numbers ranking are used to determine which flush is higher.)

This goes on (each person takes turn to play a higher single card (or pairs, trips or 5-cards)) until:

1. a player plays the highest card left for that series. For example, the 2♠ when singles are in play or 2♠2♥ when pairs are played. Obviously, there is no possible reply to these cards.

2. all players have passed in succession, in reply to the last player to have played a card. This means no player can/wishes to challenge the card played by the last player.

The cards are put aside and a new series is started by the last player to play a card. Again, this can be singles, pairs, trips or 5-cards.

It is often courteous for a player to warn others when he/she is one card away from winning.

The game continues until one player runs out of cards. He is then declared victorious, and wins the game.

Scoring

The most common version of scoring is that after a game each player with cards remaining scores -1 point for each such card, unless they have 10 or more remaining, in which they score -2 for each. If they didn't get to play any cards at all, they score -3 for each.

So, for example, if A won, and B, C, and D respectively still had 3, 11, and 8 cards left, B would score -3, C would score -22, D would score -8, and North would score +33. At the end of the night, the points from all the games are totalled up to see who pays out and who has raked in money. If, for example, $0.10 is allocated per point, then if the night finishes with A on +20, B on +10, C on -10 and D on -20, then D would pay A $2 and C would pay B $1.

Conclusion, Tactics and Psychology

There are many variations to the game depending on where the game is played, much of which depends on where exactly in Asia one is playing. As just one example, trips are sometimes not allowed in Choh Dai Di. However, this introductory article provides much of the basics of the Chinese poker game commonly known as Big 2 or Choh Dai Di.

Once you understand the game you may find that a basic fundamental understanding is to know when to seize initiative. This is valuable as initiative lets you determine what cards to discard next.

More advanced players bring in the psychological element whereby players develop the unspoken understanding to prevent a particular player from discarding cards, thereby cornering the particular player into conceding double or triple points. It therefore becomes important for players to recognise when they cannot win a game and to quickly dispose of cards just to avoid doubling points.

Also, when players warn that they are about to finish discarding all their cards, other players attempt to play pairs or combinations to ensure that the player on the verge of winning does not finish his cards.

Have a try at this one day. This is one of Asia’s responses to 7-stud, Omaha, Texas Hold’em and the other variants of poker out there in the world today.

Selecting a winning craps table

You've decided on which Casino to attack, now how do you decide on which Craps table to play?

Of course, your first consideration will be the table odds. The more the merrier! That's true ONLY if the table odds of any given table fits within this session's bankroll.. that is the portion of your bankroll currently assigned to this one session. Selecting a high odds table (like 10X) does not mean that you must bet at that level, but if it fits within your session's bankroll, by all means do! Taking advantage of the odds like this is the best way to "even" the playing field by removing the built-in, huge house advantage that the Casino enjoys at the other games.

So, assuming all things being equal (all the open tables fit within your bankroll's parameters), let's pick a table...

Some are crowded, some are nearly empty of players, and some are totally devoid of players.

Which looks like the best table for you?

I could go into a long dissertation based upon what kind of bettor you are in order to make this decision, but I won't!

I could discuss noise vs. silence = winning vs. losing, but I won't!

I will say this: The dice have NO memory.

Understand? Many don't - The Dice have NO memory.

Put another way: Each and Every roll of the dice has a random result totally free from ANY and ALL previous rolls. By the way, you should have a good understanding of the true odds of any given roll. You can get the chart at many Craps websites.

Therefore, logic tells me that what has been rolled recently plays NO role in picking a table on which you can win money.

What about Hot vs Cold?

If you're a "right bettor", you instinctively would not want a cold table... BUT, the dice have NO memory.

If you're a "wrong bettor", you probably avoid hot tables... BUT, the dice have NO memory.

Some bettors believe very strongly in superstitions, and I say: That's fine! Picking a table based upon superstion is fine.

Selecting a table based upon noise (or lack of) is fine!

Selecting a Hot or Cold table is fine!

My reason for selecting a table is very simple: I pick one where the position that I prefer is available! That's all - no big scientific reason...

because truth be known - it just doesn't matter!!!! ... and why? Because, (say it with me): The Dice Have No Memory!

Much more important is knowing when to LEAVE that table for another.

Correcting golf swing problems - a few basic tips

You've been playing golf forever and you still stink when you're out on the green. You've got all the necessary gear, all the training stuff, and you've watched videos and tutorials online. So, what's the problem?

Even if you play golf as a hobby, you'll always need to be concerned with correcting golf swing problems. There's nothing more rewarding than noticing that you're scores are getting lower. You'll gain more confidence and feel better about your game.

Here are some simple tips for correcting golf swing problems.

Keep Your Eyes Open

When you go golfing with friends, watch them. During the first few holes, check out everybody and see who's the best player. Don't worry about all your own slices and mistakes; find out who's the best in the group and study their moves.

You'd be surprised what you can learn just by watching others play. If you don't get out to play as much as you'd like to, watch pro golf on TV. Instead of thinking about how impossibly good the players are, watch what the do and pay attention to their technique.

Practice Practice Practice

I can't write tips for improving your game without mentioning practice. Practice a lot. Okay, I mentioned it, so let's move on!

Watch Yourself

When you're doing all this practicing I mentioned above, videotape yourself and watch your swing. This can really help you notice things you wouldn't have noticed before. When you are practicing, you're so busy DOING it, that you might not notice a mistake you're making.

Watching the video back, you might notice that your posture is a little awkward, or your address a little off. You can watch different shots and see how consistent your set-up is. You can see the angles from the outside, and you can even compare your swings with those of your favorite golfers.

Just remember to erase them when you're done. There's no reason to keep an archive, and let's face it, it's a little weird to have a hundred videos of yourself practicing golf!

If you're not into the audio-visual side of things, practice in front of a mirror. This will help too, and you can practice your "Nice shot!" face.

No More Slicing

The most common problem with most golfers' swings is the dreaded slice. The slice is basically when the ball goes veering off to the right of where you meant to put it (of the left, in the case of lefties).

If you slice a lot, you are probably swinging in too much of a downward motion. In other words, your swing plan is too steep.

Try flattening it out. If you flatten it out too much, the ball will start veering to the left (or the right, in the case of lefties). Try to find the right balance between too-steep and too-flat, so that the ball goes just where you want to put it.

Sometimes slicing is caused by improper grip or stance. Make sure you have the proper address before you take your golf swing, and you'll eliminate this problem. For more info see getgoodatgolf. com on golf course.

There's a lot that goes into making a perfect golf swing, and all of us can stand a little correcting once in a while. Always correcting golf swing problems will help improve your game and get you over the slump to the next level.

When using this vehicle during pocket bike racing, neighborhood cruising or showing it off to friends, it is important to remember safety at all times. Headgears, pads and other protective equipments must be worn always to ensure the rider’s safety. As what many would say, Fun and Safety must always come hand in hand.

Now with all these pocket bike talks, you are probably now wondering where you can go and grab yourself one. Pocket rocket bikes are available in bike stores near you. Their prices vary from 400-1000 dollars depending on the quality and features of the bike. The highest parachute measured by an altimeter watch

Joseph Kittinger set the record for the highest parachute jump in 1960.He was investigating high altitude escape as part of his involvement in the Aerospace Medical Research Laboratories of the United States Air Force (USAF).The jump took place at 102.800 ft the highest parachute jump ever attempted.

With staggering speeds of around 714 mph and freezing temperatures of –94 degrees Kittinger free fell for 4 Ѕ minutes. During that jump he took the record for highest parachute jump. longest freefall and fastest speed every reached by man. Kittinger opened his chute at 18.000 ft and descended safely to earth.

Parachuting in that context was about advancement in terms of tactical training. deployment and escape techniques. The USAF conducted investigations into high altitude escapes so that their pilots and others would be better equipped in the event of a high altitude evacuation. High altitude skydiving for fun is more about pushing the boundaries than it is about discovery. This kind of jumping is not for the faint hearted.

Extreme adventure sports junkies and professional skydivers now pursue this military style jumping. For the average adventure tourist a standard parachute jump is enough to get your heart racing and fulfill your need for extreme experience. Free falling for a matter of seconds awakens every sense and stands your nerves on edge. This is the ultimate rush of fear coupled with exhilaration. For those professionals that wish to take the sport to new heights the objective is a longer free fall time. It is all about the free fall when its comes to high altitude jumping.

In recent years HALO skydiving has emerged as a popular choice for high altitude jumping. High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) jumps are a military concept. These kinds of jumps are used in the airborne forces for infiltration. This high altitude military type jump is performed by civilians often in tandem as an adventure skydiving activity. In this way HALO jumping is performed at roughly 30.000 ft with the jumper and instructor harnessed together. This is considered a reasonably high altitude for jumping. Many skydiving centers offer high altitude jumps ranging from around 15.000 ft to 18.000 ft. For the more extreme you have HALO jumping centers emerging across the country.

The record for the highest parachute jump is still held by Joseph Kittinger more than 40 years later. Other attempts to break the record have fallen short of his remarkable height. While professional thrill seekers continue to break new ground in the world of high altitude jumping it will take something special to break the record for the highest parachute jump.

How to learn soccer tricks

Let’s face it, even if you’re not much of a soccer player, knowing how to handle a few soccer tricks can mean a world of difference in your friends circle. Improving on your soccer tricks and skills isn’t just for impressing your friends and the ladies though. They can also get your match performance to a higher level, because they’re surprising and effective.

I can give you a lot of examples on that part: remember when Ronaldinho first started to perform his famous Elastico move? (flicking the ball with his outside of the foot to the left, then quickly cutting it with his inside) Nowadays, a defender that’s facing Ronaldinho in a one versus one duel will surely be careful against this move, but when the Brazilian had just invented it, it was extremely surprising and he managed to create havoc whenever his Elastico would work.

I’m not saying you’ll be able to perform as well as Ronaldinho after you learn soccer tricks like that, but it can definitely give you a surprising edge in a match situation.

Another great example of soccer tricks and skills that can make a difference is Zidane’s 360 spin. Although it’s a very effective and simple move, it wasn’t until Zizou popularized it that players all over the World actually used it in matches.

So, if you learn soccer tricks, you’ll be able to gain an edge on your opponent, but that probably wasn’t that hard to figure out anyway. The real question is HOW to do soccer tricks and how to learn them correctly. Here’s what I would suggest.

Try to have a step-by-step approach when you learn soccer tricks, categorizing them on difficulty levels. Start with the basic ones, move on to advanced moves and once you get both these categories well under your boot, try out those special few that are extremely hard to master.

Obviously, if you’re practicing these moves by yourself, or with the help of a friend, you’ll be able to perform them with no or little resistance, which is rarely the case in a real match (and if there’s no resistance, why would you perform them in a match anyway?). So besides practicing the actual move, you’ll also have to work on the timing of your soccer tricks and skills.

A couple of basic moves could include: the Zidane 360 spin, the stop and go, the Puskas V-move or the fake shot dribble.

Under the advanced category, you could try the Cruyff move, the stepover and double stepover or the Scotch.

Moves that are quite difficult to master and are better off left for last, include: Ronaldinho’s Elastico move, the “Brazilian” rainbow move or the Van Persie sweep.

Start off with the basic ones and practice them thoroughly, until you feel you’ve mastered these soccer tricks. Of course, when you move on to the advanced moves, these will take a lot longer to get a solid grip over, but you will have had already built some basic ball control skills from the basic dribble.

More difficult dribbles like the Elastico, or the rainbow kick will take a while to get a grip on, but don’t get discouraged if you keep failing on executing them! With enough practice, there’s no trick that you won’t be able to handle. The only thing that kills learning a specific trick is saying “I can’t do this” and cutting it off your list.
